Had Hear Condition
Funeral Rites Held Sunday
Born in Missouri

Homer E. Jones, 73, retired Sims merchant, died at his home in that community about 6:15 Thursday evening.

Mr. Jones, who spent all of his adult life in the Sims vicinity, had been in failing health the past two or three years, suffering from a heart condition.

He retired ten years ago from operation of a general store at Sims.

Funeral Rites Sunday

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from the Sims General Baptist Church with Rev. Ora McRill and Rev. William Clifton officiating.  Interment was in Victory cemetery.

Mr. Jones had been a member of the Sims General Baptist church for 48 years and held many offices in the church.  He was an ordained deacon.

Homer Ezra, son of Augusta C. and Nancy Kay Jones, was born June 28th, 1883, at Springfield, Mo.  In early childhood he moved with his parents to Wayne county, growing to manhood in Lamard township.  At the age of 19 he moved to Sims.

Married in 1901

He was married to Clara May Carter September 14th, 1901, and three children were born to this union.  A daughter, Mildred, died in 1933, and his wife passed away June 12th, 1952.

He was married to Grace Gregg in February, 1954.

Surviving are his widow; a son, Earl, of Sims; a daughter, Hazel, wife of Herbert Higdon, of Sims; one brother, B.A. Jones, of Sims; one sister, Mrs. Cora Baker, of Fairfield; six grandchildren; and either great-grandchildren.
