William Pierce McNeely, 88, Dies; Was Retired Farmer

William Pierce McNeely, 88, who farmed many years in the Geff area before retirement, died at 5 a.m. Sunday July 21, at his home.

Mr. McNeely had been in frail health, the Press was told.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the H@sselton Funeral Home in Cisne with Bro. Don Lusk and Bro. John Heston to officiate. Burial will be in the Bestow Cemetery at Geff.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 6-9 p.m. Monday (tonight).

Mr. McNeely was born in Wayne County on Sept. 24, 1896, the only son of Lon and Grace (Grice) McNeely.

He was first married in 1920 to <b>Glenn Dye</b>. Two sons, Clifford and Gaylord, were born to this marriage. She died in 1939.

In 1940, he was married to Ruby Grubb. Two children, Richard and Shirley, were born to this marriage. She survives.

Mr. McNeely was a veteran of World War I. He was a member of the Pleasant Grove Christian Church and a past member of the Fairfield American Legion Post.

Besides farming, he also served as a machinist for the Cisne Seed Company.

Surviving are his widow, Ruby, of Geff; three sons, Clifford, Gaylord and Richard, all of Geff; one daughter, Mrs. Lewis (Shirley) Pilcher, of Cisne, eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Rachel Brach, of Cisne and Mrs. Vivian Matthews, of Fairfield.
