Former Sims Resident Dies; Struck By Car

Mrs. Noveila Pruiett, 72, of Alton formerly of Sims died Tuesday, Nov. 12 1985 at 8:26 p.m. upon arrival at Alton Memorial Hospital after being struck by an automobile.

Mrs. Pruiett was the step-daughter of Dorothy Reed, of Fairfield, and sister of Homer Henson, Sims.

Funeral services were held Friday at 10 a.m. at the Brown Street Baptist Church in Alton, with Rev. Marvin W. DePenning officiating. Burial followed in Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.

Mrs. Pruiett was born in Sims, the daughter of the late Loren and Rhoda Belle Ray Henson.  She married Glenn Pruiett Nov. 8, 1932, in Alton.

She was a seamstress and dress designer and the owner of Novella's Fashion Shoppe in Alton for a number of years. Later she was a seamstress at St. Joseph's Hospital.

Among survivors are her husband, Glenn Pruiett, of Alton; two daughters, Blenda Drury, of Upland, Calif.; and Bonnie Farquhar, of Columbia, Md.; three brothers, Leiuna Henson, of St. Cloud, Fla.; Clarence Henson, of Indianapolis, Ind.; and Homer Henson, of Sims; a foster sister, Berniece Hooper, of Wood River; her step-mother, Dorothy Reed, of Fairfield; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be given to the Brown Street Baptist Church, of which she was a member, or to the Merican Cancer Society, of which she was area chairman for two years.
