Cat Rankin, 77, Of Enfield, Dies

Emerson M. "Cat" Rankin, 77, of Enfield, died at 11:46 p.m. Saturday, April.13, 1985, at Carmi Township Hospital.

Mr. Rankin formerly owned and operated a grocery store in Mill Shoals.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Enfield Christian Church, with Rev. Charles Mossberger and Rev. Glen Milner officiating. Burial will be in Little Zion Cemetery there.

Visitation will be conducted after 2 p.m. Tuesday at Elledge Funeral Home at Enfield.

Mr. Rankin was born in Illinois Oct. 8, 1906, the son of Jesse and EttaCarter Rankin.    He wed the former Ruby A. Garrett in 1927.

She preceded him in death May 2,1984.

Mr. Rankin was a member of Enfield Christian Church.

Survivors include seven sons, James, Karen, Curtis and Bill Rankin, all ofEnfield; Charles Rankin, of Centerville; Wendell Rankin, of Selmen City, Tex.;and Merle Rankin, of Carbondale; three daughters, Mrs. Mary Nelson, of Carmi;Mrs. Betty King, of Selmen City, Tex.; and Mrs. Beverly Wilson, of Columbus,Ohio; one sister, Mrs. Wilma Porter, of Kentucky; 26 grandchildren; 26grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren
