Hold Hubert W. Basher Rites; Died In St. Louis

Funeral services for Hubert W. Brashear, 71, of Xenia, were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Hosselton Funeral Home in Cisne. Rev. Verneal Garren and Rev. Warren Tate officiated, with burial in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Brashear died at 1:43 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, 1988, at Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.  He had been in ill health for some time.

Mr. Brashear was born on Aug. 17, 1917 in Wayne County to Leonard and Belle (Waller) Brashear.  On Aug. 25, 1937 he married Edith McConnaughhay in Wayne County. She survives him. They had celebrated their 50th anniversary last August.

He was employed with the Illinois Central and Gulf Railroad for 27 years.  He continued to work on his farm after retirement.

Mr. Brashear was a member of the Pleasant Hill Christian Church and also the
Brotherhood of Railway Carmen.

In addition to his wife, Edith, he is survived by four daughters, Mrs. James (Rowena) Bruge, Mrs. Ed (Carol) Kell, Mrs. James (Judy) Solomon and Mrs. John (Sheila) Smith, all of the Orchardville area; three sons, Larry, Ed and Garry, also of the Orchardville area; one sister, Mrs. Doval (Clara) Fields of Salem, Ill.; 24 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
