Kathryn (Kate) Fahey, 92, Dies At Hospital Here

Kathryn "Kate" (Steidinger) Fahey, 92, Fairfield, formerly of Forrest, Ill., and mother of Kay Walter of Fairfield died at 7:30 a.m. Thursday (today) Dec. 8, 1988 in the Intensive Care Unit of Fairfield Memorial Hospital.  She suffered from heart problems, but had been ill for only a couple of days prior to her death.

Services will be held at Johnson Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, with Rev. Roger Reid officiating with burial and graveside services in Forrest, Ill.

Mrs. Fahey was born July 7, 1896 in Forrest, Ill., to Andrew and Kate (Abersol) Steidinger. On June 18, 1919 she wed Thomas J. Fahey, following his return from overseas duty during the First World War.

Mr. Fahey served as a rural letter carrier for almost 43 years, and passed away on Nov. 13, 1968. Mrs. Fahey had spent her entire life in Forrest until moving to Fairfield in May 1978.

She was a 50-year member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a member of the Rural Letter Carriers Association Auxiliary.

Survivors include one daughter, Mary Kathryn "Kay" Walter of Fairfield; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four brothers and three sisters.
