Father Of Cisne Resident Dies At Home In Clay City

Earl S. Devore, 70, of Clay City, died at 8 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 1, 1996, at his home. Mr. Devore was an oil field construction worker and the father of Hazel Hough, of Cisne.

Funeral rites were conducted Saturday morning from the Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora, with burial in Elmwood Cemetery in that city. Johnnie Ray Pennington officiated the services. Visitation at Frank & Bright was held Friday evening

He was born at Flora Feb. 1, 1926, the son of Bill and Edith Chambliss Devore. In 1952 he was married to Ann E. Cleaveland. She died in 1986. Also preceding him in death were his parents, one son and one brother.

He was of the Christian faith.

Surviving are one son, John Devore, of Clay City; two daughters, Hazel Hough, of Cisne; and Patricia Lindsey, of Mt. Carmel; three brothers, Robert,Paul and Pete Devore, all of Flora, four sisters, Geneva Leathers, of Flora; Mrs. Junior (Evelyn) Schnepper, of Louisville; Ellen King, of Flora; and Clara Willis, of Olney; and nine grandchildren.
