Grain Elevator Owner Dies

Maurice Campbell, 94, of West Salem, died at 2:25 a.m. Friday Aug. 2, 1996, at Meadowood Nursing Home in Grayville.

He was well-known in area farm circles, having owned and operated the Campbell Grain & Seed Elevator in West Salem for many years.

Funeral rites were held Saturday afternoon from the Ingram Funeral Home in West Salem. Burial was in the Moravian Cemetery.

Mr. Campbell was born at Massilon, Ohio, Dec. 15, 1901, the son of Earl J. and Maude V. Simmons Campbell. On Feb. 12, 1926, he was married to Helen Syler in Minnesota. She died July 4 this year. Also preceding him in death were his parents, an infant daughter and a sister.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, holding a 32nd Degree; treasurer of the West Salem Library Board for 20 years and a former Rotary Club member. He was involved in the formation of the Senior Citizens and Ruritan Clubs at West Salem.

There are no survivors.
