Charles Songer Dies

Charles R Songer, 50, of Sterling, former Xenia resident, died at 12:56 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, 1984, at Moline Lutheran Hospital in Moline, a victim of cancer.

He was a retired supervisor for Northwestern Steel and Wire Co., where he was employed for 29 years.

Graveside funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Sunday at Oddfellows Cemetery at Xenia, with Frank & Bright Funeral Home handling the arrangements.

Mr. Songer was born in Clay County Feb. 4, 1934, the son of Glen and Angie (Winters) Songer. He wed Doris Jean Anderson at Xenia Mar. 8, 1953.

Survivors include his wife, Doris Songer, of Sterling; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Songer, of Xenia; two daughters, Julie Carr, of Sterling; and Amie Anderson, of Medicine Lodge, Kan., one son, David Songer, of Downing, Calif.; two sisters, Virginia Nichols, of Norwalk, Calif.; and June Smith, of Xenia, one brother, Donald Songer, of Lansing; and three grandchildren.
