Mrs. Carolyn Johnson, 82, Of Goldengate, Succumbs

Longtime Goldengate resident and former store owner-operator, Mrs. Carolyn Foster Johnson, 82, died at 8:25 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 1, 1984, at Way-Fair Restorium, from infirmities of age.

Mrs. Johnson and her late husband, Roy, operated the Goldengate Grocery Store for 25 years prior to retiring.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Maple Hill Cemetery with Rev. Don Tabor officiating.

Visitation for family and friends will be conducted from 6-8 p.m. Monday (tonight) at Johnson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Johnson was born in Fairfield Aug. 12, 1902, the daughter of Richard and Laura (Luester) Foster. She was married to Roy Johnson at Mt. Vernon June 4, 1922. He preceded her in death in 1972.

Mrs. Johnson attended Goldengate United Methodist Church earlier in her life. She was a member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Fairfield.

She is survived by two sons, Gary Johnson, of Goldengate; Slephen Johnson,of Kermit, Texas; a sister Josephine Phelps, of Centralia; and nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
