Obituary

MARGARET GLOYD

Margaret, daughter of Lewis and Elizabeth Brummet, was born in Browns county, Indiana, June 15th, 1843.  When a small child she moved to Illinois with her parents and settled in northern Wayne, where she has made her home since that time.  She was united in marriage with W. H. Dennis, February 16th, 1863.  Seven children were born to this union: four of whom died in infancy and one son, John Newton Dennis, who died February 26, 1914.  Her companion died February 1st, 1896 [*Error in article: 1897 correct year].

She was again united in marriage November 3d, 1902, with G. D. Gloyd.  This companion also preceded her in death, March 25th, 1916.

Early in life she professed her faith in Christ and united with the Zif Missionary Baptist church of which she remained a faithful member until death.

After the death of her late husband she has spent most of her time with her daughter, Mrs. Emma Roush, of Cisne, who has shown every kindness and care that it was possible for her to do.  For the past five or six years she has been blind.  She bore her affliction with great patience and was appreciative of the efforts of her loved ones to make her life brighter and happier.  A few weeks ago she suffered a fall from which she never recovered and for the past several days she has been steadily growing weaker.  All that loving hands and care could do to restore her was of no avail and the spirit took its flight from the mortal body at eleven o’clock, Saturday night, January 21st, at the ripe old age of eighty-four years, seven months and six days.  She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Emma Roush of Cisne and Mrs. Mae [*May]Thompson of Wausaukee, Wisconsin, eleven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson, who with a large host of other relatives and friends are sad because of her passing.

Funeral services were conducted from the residence at nine o’clock Tuesday morning, by Rev. Roy Kessel.  Interment was in the Zif Cemetery.
