MT. VERNON -- Mildred M. Jenkins, 89, of Nebo, Ky., and formerly of Wayne City, died at 3:55 a.m. Dec. 19, 2010, at Palmers Place, Providence, Ky.

She was born on Dec. 3, 1921, in Wayne County, the daughter of Sam and Hettie Woods Braddock. She married Daniel Jenkins who preceded her in death, and later married Gene Hawkins, who also preceded her in death.

She is survived by a son, Danny Wayne Jenkins of Nebo, Ky.; a step son, Larry Hawkins of Rockerter, Minn.; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister Eunice Lane of Bluford.

In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

She was a homemaker and retired from Esmon Wood Grocery. She was a member of Eastern Star 563 in Wayne City. She was a member of Wayne City Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. today at the graveside at Thomason Cemetery in Wayne City with the Rev. Bill Clark officiating.

Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Richardson Funeral Home in Wayne City.

Memorials may be given to St. Anthony Hospice in Dixon, Ky., and will be accepted at Richardson Funeral Home in Wayne City.
