Mary Nichols, of Wayne City,
Dies at Way-Fair; Was 93

Mary Nichols, 93, of Wayne City, a resident of Way-Fair Restorium, died at 12:30 p.m. Friday, January 30, 1987 from infirmities of age.

An English teacher, Miss Nichols retired from the Wayne City High School in 1968, after teaching there for 36 years. She had been a resident of Way-Fair for
the past 5 1/2 years.

Services Held

Graveside funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday (today) at Thomason Cemetery in Wayne City with Rev. Rod Farthing officiating.  Richardson Funeral Home in Wayne City was in charge of arrangements.

Miss Nichols was born in Petersburg, Indiana on February 19,1893, the daughter of R.H. and Cora (Flemming) Nichols.

She attended grade and high school in Fairfield. She later attended the University of Illinois at Champaign, receiving her bachelors and masters degrees.  During her teaching career, she taught English in Kentucky, Oklahoma and Michigan for a short time, before returning to Wayne City to finish her career.

She was a member of the Eastern Star Lodge #566 in Wayne City and the Retired Teachers Association. She was a follower of the Christian faith.

One Survivor

Surviving is one brother, Paul Nichols of Wayne City.
