Boyd (Haywire) Vaughn, 87, Dies; Funeral Rites Friday

Boyd L. (Haywire) Vaughn, 87, longtime Fairfield resident, died at 10:22 p.m. Tuesday, July 12, 1994, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon. He had been in failing health for the past six weeks with cancer.

Mr. Vaughn worked for the Alva Davis Oil Company for a number of years. After retirement he operated a yard service in Fairfield.

Funeral rites will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Nail's Funeral Home, with Rev. A. J. Adrain officiating. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Nale's from 6 to 8 o'clock Thursday evening (tonight).

He was born in McDonald County, Mo., June 21, 1907, the son of Edgar and Donna Collins Vaughn. On June 6, 1944, he was married to Mildred Hallam.

Mr. Vaughn was a member of the Fairfield First Baptist Church and a 50-year member of the Fairfield Masonic Lodge.

Preceding him in death were his parents and a son, Steven R.

Surviving are his wife, Mildred; a son, Jack L., of Murray, Ky.; four grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Opal Rhodes, of San Diego, Calif.; A half-brother, Richard Vaughn, of Tullle Lake, Calif.; and a half-sister, Fay Patterson, of Merle, Ore.
