Obituary of Bennie Harlan

Bennie Harlan, oldest son of William Jackson Harlan and Lenora McRill (latter deceased) died Tuesday evening about 1 o”clock at his home.

He had been suffering for the past few months with heart trouble, but was able to be up and around the house some.  He had eaten his breakfast and gone out into the yard and fell unconscious; he was carried into the house the doctor was called at once and pronounced it a paralytic stroke of the brain.  He was unconscious until he died.

He professed faith in Christ about a year ago at Union Star in a meeting held by Rev. Pennington and Rev. Hollar.  Rev. Pennington baptized him in June.  He lived a faithful Christian life until death.

He was 28 years, 10 months and a few days of age. He leaves a heartbroken wife and two sons, a father, one brother, Dan, three sisters, Mrs. Mae Singleterry, Mrs. Alma Shehorn, and Miss Arla Harlan and two age grandmothers and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at Dickeyville, Wednesday at 1 o’clock PM.  Rev. Pennington officiating to a large audience.

Mr. and Mrs. George Williams of Dahlgren, were called on Wednesday to attend the funeral of their son-in-law Bennie Harlan. They were accompanied home by their daughter, Mrs. B. Harlan and two sons Phillamon and Dayton, Thursday who expect to make their future home, near her parents.
