LEWIS  A. WILLIAMS
HAD BEEN IN ILL HEALTH FOR SOME TIME.

FUNERAL JUNE 26

Lewis A. Williams of Cisne passed away last Thursday at his home. He had been in ill health for some time.

Funeral services were conducted at the M. E. Church at Cisne, June 26th at two o’clock. Rev. Ira Lutz officiated and was assisted by the pastor, Rev. G. H. Hall. Interment was in the Cisne cemetary.

Lewis Albert Williams, son of A. G. and Fannie Williams, was born in Danville, Missouri, April 14, 1883. When 14 years old he with his parents moved to Wayne County Illinois and lived on a farm about 3 1/2 miles west of Cisne, where he grew to manhood.

He was united in marriage with Edith B. Cates, November 15, 1905. To this union one daughter and one son was born.

When 20 years of age he was converted and united with the Rock Branch General Baptist Church where he retained his membership for five years. After moving to Cisne he placed his membership with the M. E. Church during a meeting conducted by Bro. Huntzberry and was faithful in his attendance as long as health would permit and insisted on other members of the family attending when was not able to do so.

In 1910 he came to Cisne and worked in a general store for his father a few years. R. O. McGlasson purchased the business and he worked for the new firm until he went into business for himself February 5, 1917. He continued this business until February 6, 1937 when he sold out and retired from business on account of poor health.

He had been a sufferer for about seven years. All was done that willing hands could do but, he continued to grow weaker until he passed away June 24, 1937 at the age of 54 years, 2 months and 10 days.

He leaves to mourn his departure, his faithful companion, son and daughter-in-law and little granddaughter, three sisters, Mrs. Maud Simmons of Geff, Mrs. Mae Brown of Cisne and Mrs. Maggie Gill near Enterprise and many other relatives and friends. His father, mother, three sisters and daughter who died in infancy preceeded him in death.
