Mrs. Lona Newell, 74, of Waltonville died at 6:00a.m. today at the Setzekorn Nursing Home in this city.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00p.m. Thursday at the Fry Funeral Home in Waltonville with the Rev. Marsh Harpole officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill cemetery at Sesser.  The body will lie in state at the Fry Funeral Home where friends may call after 6:00p.m. Wednesday.

Mrs. Newell was born Feb. 22, 1890 in Wayne City, the daughter of Mark and Lucy (Harrolle) Cross.  She was married to John Everett Newell,  who preceded her in death in 1961.  Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. William Anderson of Ina and Mrs. Vaneda Jury of Mt. Vernon; a half-brother, Bligh Robinson of Joliet; a half-sister, Mrs. Eva Haldorson  of Harvey, Ill.; and an aunt, Mrs. Ducy Mayberry of Wayne City.
