CORA  A  (JONES)  BAKER

Mrs. Cora A. Baker, 87, a longtime resident of Sims and Fairfield, died Thursday at the Raber nursing home in Flora where she had been a patient for the last three years.

Mrs. Baker was the mother of Mrs. Roy Finley and stepmother of John, Ray, Olen and Jesse Baker, all of Fairfield.

Funeral services were held from Nales Funeral Home Sunday afternoon with Rev. Jesse Miller officiating. Interment was in Victory Cemetery.

Mrs. Baker spent the greater part of her adult life as a resident of the Sims community but lived in Fairfield since the death of her husband, Loren Baker, in 1944. She resided in an apartment at the Denver Thomason home on North West 7th Street several years ago. She became ill about five years ago and lived with her daughter, Mrs. Finley for two years before going to the nursing home.

Cora, a Daughter of Augustus and Nancy King Jones was born in Wayne County September 8th, 1871.

On November 13th, 1899, she was married to Robert H. Young with eight children born to this union. Her husband preceded her in death December 12th, 1934, and an infant son, Roy, and an infant daughter, Viola, also preceded her in death. In April 1938, she was married to Loren Baker.  He passed away in Novenber, 1944.

When quite young, she was converted to Christ and joined the Sims General Baptist church where she was a member at the time of her death.

Surviving are her children; Lola Finley, of Fairfield; Opal Atkinson of Geff; Ray Young, of Salem, Clarice Roney, of Fithian; six stepchildren, John Ray, Olen and Jesse Baker, all of Fairfield; Albert Baker, of Sandusky, Ohio; and Ester Frenk, of Elgin; 10 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren; and 4 great-greatgrandchildren
