Died on the 21st day of Feb. 1885. JOHN BALDRIDGE. , The death of Father Baldridge, who was a citizen of Davis county for 41 years, and whose name has been a synonym of honesty, integrity  and manliness, deserves more than a passing notice.

He was born in Murray county Tennessee Feb. 1800. Was married to Miss REBECCA PUCKETT in 1825. They raised a family of 9 children, 8 of whom survive the father’s death, 6 of whom were present at his funeral service, which took place in Drakeville, Feb. 22nd. The wife of Father Baldridge died July 25th, 1874.

He leaves to mourn for him 8 children, 32 grandchildren and a host of friends. He has belonged to the Christian church fifty years. His faith in the power of Christ to save grew stronger as the years went by, and he died without a fear or a dread. Thus passed away another pioneer of Davis county, and a veteran of the Lord's army. A funeral sermon was preached by the writer, to a large and sympathizing audience.

On the 7th day -------- month our father, JasneF, Baldridge, of 2046 Derby Ave., who was in his  80th year, passed away, and on the 9th funeral services were held at the Temple Christian Church, of which he had been a member since its inception -  about 28 years ago. Rev. Duncan MacFarlane delivered, the Principal funeral sermon, following which three G.A.R. comrades placed the American flag across the coffin and
delivered brief orations. Burial was in Mt. Hoe cemetery.
