Ralph Smith Dies

Ralph Smith, prominent young teacher of Burnt Prairie, died  at his home near that village May 1 of pneumonia.  He was 29 years old.

He was born near Burnt Prairie October 21, 1906, the son of Charles R. and Amanda Smith, was reared in that community.  He was graduated from the Albion high school, fitted himself for teaching by attendance at  the normal school in Carbondale.  He had been teaching at Moccasin.

He was married to Miss Carrie Marie Stahl August  6, 1929.  Two sons were born to them.  Herschel Eugene and Charles Eldon, both of whom with  his widow survivie.  He leaves his father, a brother, Silas A. Smith, three sisters, Anna and Hattie Smith, Mrs. Elsie Stahl.

At the age of 19 he was converted to Christianity, united with the Cumberland Presbyterian church at Burnt Prairie during a revival conducted by Pastor B. L. Scroggs and Rev. Rudolph.

Funeral services were held at the C. P. church at Burnt Prairie Saturday morning conducted by Rev. W. A. Cowgur.  Burial was in the cemetery in that village.
