W. R. VAUGHAN

Lifelong Barnhill Township Farmer
Passed Away At Memorial Hospital Thursday

W. R. (Walter Raymond) Vaughan, 67, of Route 5, Fairfield, a lifelong resident of Barnhill Township, died at 3:10 Thursday afternoon at Memorial Hospital of a heart condition.  Mr. Vaughan entered the hospital Sunday, January 9th.  He had not been in  the best of health for some time, having diabetes.

On Doc Caldwell Place

He was a lifelong farmer, residing with his family for many years on the Doc Caldwell farm southwest of Fairfield on Bt. Prairie Road.  A couple of years ago he moved to a farm east of that place.

Funeral services were held from the Pleasant Grove Baptist church Sunday aftenoon, with Rev Roy Collins officiating.  Interrment was in the church cemetery.  Dixon & Johnson Funeral Home was in charge.

Walter Raymond, son of Oscar and Flora Lock Vaughan, was born near Fairfield December 3rd, 1898.  He was married to the former Cynthia Hooper, with ten children born to their union.  A son, Jackie, died in infancy, and a son, Eldon was killed in a Texas oil field accident several years ago.

The Survivors

Surviving are his widow; four sons, Jerry, of Fairfield; Edwin, of Atwood; Dale, of Howell, Mich.; and James, of Plainfield; four daughters, Mrs. Doris Spicer, of Sims; Mrs. Wanda Block, of Cisne; Mrs. June Auvil. of Catlin; and Mrs. Mary Conard, of Iamosia, Texas; two brothers, John and Frank Vaughan, both of Fairfield; five sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Smith, of Bt. Pairie; Mrs. Mollie Haefele, Mrs.  Anna Anderson and Mrs. Katheryn Worley, all of Fairfield; and Mrs. Lucy Malone, of Grayville; and 14 grandchildren.

The brother, Frank Vaughan, is on a tour in South Africa and could not be reached in time for the funeral.
