Ray Stallings' Mother Dies; Johnston City Rites Friday

Mrs. Julia Stallings, 88, of Johnston City, died at home at 2:10 a.m. Wednesday, Apr. 12, 1995.

She had been in declining health. Mrs. Stallings was the mother of Ray Stallings, of Fairfield.

Funeral rites will be at 1 p.m. Friday from the Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City, with Rev. Howard Bell officiating. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery. Friends may call after six o'clock Thursday evening (tonight) at the Murman & Wilson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Stallings worked for several years at Smoler's Dress Factory in Herrin.

She was born in Kansas Jan. 8, 1907, the daughter of John and Mary Pluta.  On Dec. 24, 1924, in Marion, she was married to Troy Stallings, Sr.  He passed away June 18, 1971. Also preceding her in death were her parents, an infant son, four brothers and two sisters.

She was a member of the Johnston City First United Methodist Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Bill (Jeanette) Elliott, of Johnston City; and Mrs. Jack (Joy) Helfrich, of Johnston City; four sons, Troy Stallings, Jr., of Johnston City, Ray Stallings,of Fairfield; Charles Stallings, of Salem; and Homer Stallings, of Johnston City; 15 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
