Was Cook Many Years
Mary Vaughan, 89, Dies
Mrs. Mary Vaughan. 89. well- known Fairfield resident, died at 3:55 am. Friday. July 1, 1983, at the Fairfield Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Vaughan had been admitted five days prior to her death suffering from the infirmities of age.

She was employed as a pastry cook for area restaurants and cooked for the local Lions Club for many years, until ill health forced her to retire.

Services Held

Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Nale's Funeral Home with Rev. B. R. Cummins officiating.  Burial was in Maple Hill cemetery.

Mrs. Vaughan was born in Barnhill township Wayne County, Feb 6  1894, the daughter of Charles and Olive (Musgrave) Locke.  She grew up in Wayne county and attended  Green Briar School.

She was married to Leonard Vaughan, an oilfield  worker, in Fairfield Feb. 20, 1917.  He preceeded her in death Oct. 31, 1956.

Mrs, Vaughan worked as cook for the White Kitchen and The Grill at different times.  She cooked her last meal for the Lions Club when she  was 79 years old.

She was a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church near Fairfield,

The Survivors

Survivors include two daughters. Mrs. Ruth Gray of Fairfield and Mrs. Robert (Eva) Lear, of Zionville, Ind.;
flve grandchildren; 16  great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.
