Alva Henson, 83, Native Of Wayne, Dies At Flora Hospital

Alva Henson, 83, of Flora; and formerly of Xenia, died at the Clay County Hospital in Flora at 10:08 a.m. Wednesday, Apr. 24, 1996.

Mr. Henson was a retired farmer and truck driver for Henson Shell Oil Company.  He was a Wayne County native.

Funeral rites will be at 1 p.m. Saturday from the Brush Creek RLDS Church at Xenia, with High Priest Bill Knapp, Seventy Steve Hubble and Elder Phil Rogers officiating.  Interment will be in the Brush Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 Friday evening at the Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora.

He was born in Wayne County Jan. 6, 1913, the son of Fred and Elizabeth Huffines Henson.  On Apr. 20, 1935, in Wayne County, he was married to Thelma Irene Clements.

He was a member of the Brush Creek RLDS Church and was an Elder of the church.

Preceding him in death were his parents, four brothers and one sister.      Memorials may be made he Clay County Alzheimer's Fund.

Surviving are his wife; two sons, Bradley Henson, of Reno, Nev.; and Carl Henson, of Houston, Tex.; three daughters, Mrs, Phil (Virginia) Rogers, of Robinson; Mrs. Carrol (Karen) Farmer, of Whitefield, Maine; and Mrs. Steve (Judy) Hubble, of Flora; two brothers, Ralph Henson, of Flora; and Lewis Henson, of Hendersonville, Tenn.; one sister, Mrs. Gary (Norma Jean) Isom, of Dixon; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
