Rites For Jeremy New Set For Saturday; Died In South

Funeral services for Jeremy New, 24, former Fairfield boy, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, at the Fairfield Cumberland Presbyterian Church, with Pastor Bill Wood officiating.  Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.      Visitation will be Friday evening from 6 to 9 o'clock at the Johnson Funeral Home chapel.

Jeremy died about 9 a.m. Monday, Apr. 15, 1996, at a Ft. Myers Fla., hospital.

New lived at Naples, Fla., and was critically injured in a single car accident there early Sunday morning, Jeremy was lifeflighted to a Ft. Myers hospital where he later passed away. Jeremy was on his way home from a meeting at the country club where he worked when the accident occurred. He suffered head injuries.      A memorial service was held Tuesday evening in Naples.

Jeremy was born in Fairfield July 1, 1971, the son of Nash New and Connie Meeks Kessler.  On Dec. 29, 1990, he was married to Jolie Owen, a Fairfield girl, daughter of Bob and Kay Owen.

New graduated from Fairfield High in 1989, where he was a stand out golfer, gaining state honors in that sport.  He attended Edison College in Ft. Myers on a golf scholarship and was member of the PGA of America. He was working as a golf teaching pro at the Olde Florida Country Club at Naples.

Memorials may be made to the Cypress Wood Presbyterian Church. He was a member of that church in Naples.
 
Surviving are his wife, Jolie; a son, Joshua, age nine and a half months; his father, Nash New, of Naples, Fla.; his mother, Mrs. Chuck (Connie) Kessler, of Naples, Fla.; a sister, Abbey New, of Naples, Fla.; and grandparents, Mrs. Esther Meeks, of Fairfield; Kenneth New, of Fairfield; and Maxine Wolfe, of Texico.
