Hold Rites For Everett Tennyson

Funeral services for Everett N. Tennyson, 86, of McLeansboro, were conducted Saturday afternoon at Blooming Grove Baptist Church here, with Rev. H. E. Rister and Rev. Gary Davenport officiating.

Interment was in Blooming Grove Baptist Church cemetery. Visitation was Friday evening at the Harre Funeral Home McLeansboro.

Mr. Tennyson, a retired contractor, died at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro at 3 a.m. Thursday, Apr. 4, 1996.

Mr. Tennyson was a brother of Madge Allen of Wayne City.

He was born at Dahlgren Dec. 21, 1909, the son of Jim and Mary Hinds Tennyson.

On Dec. 23, 1938, in Hamilton County, he was married to Alberta Mitchell.

He was a member of Blooming Grove Baptist Church where he was a trustee for 35 years.  Mr. Tennyson was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the South Pacific.

Preceding him in death were his parents, one daughter, two sisters and three brothers.

Memorials may be made to the Blooming Grove Church, the American Cancer Society or the Arthritis Foundation.

Surviving are his wife; one son, Everett Ray Tennyson, of Custer Park; one daughter, Barbara Ann Barbish, of McLeansboro; four grandchildren; seven great- grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and two sisters, Madge Allen, of Wayne City; and Maude Browning, of McLeansboro.
