Nova Porter, Former Resident, Dies

Mrs. Nova E. Porter, 75, of Harrison, Ark., formerly of Wheaton and Wayne county, died at 5:50 p.m. Wednesday, Mar. 23, 1983, at the Boone County Hospital at Harrison, Ark.  Mrs. Porter grew up in the Johnsonville area, but has been away from Wayne county for a number of years.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Hosselton Funeral Home in Cisne, with Bro. Jack Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Cisne Cemetery.  Visitation will be conducted from 7-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Porter was born in Wayne county May 30, 1907, the daughter of Charles and Florence (Milner) Tibbs.  She was married to Howard Porter June 24, 1934, at Wayne City.   Mrs. Porter was a housewife and a retired clerk.

She was a member of the Agnes Bass Shinn Sunday School Class of the First Christian Church, of Harrison, Ark.  Mrs. Porter belonged to the Boone County Hospital Ladies Auxiliary; the A.A.R.P., and was an associate member of the N.A.F.E.

Survivors include her husband Howard Porter, of Harrison, Ark.; two sisters, Mrs. Verda Harrell, of Rinard; and Mrs. Olive Marshall, of Spokane, Wash.; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Pearl Tibbs, of Evansville, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, one brother, and her parents.
