Alman Bridges Mother Dies In West

Mrs. Ruth Bridges Stewart, 85, mother of former Fairfield resident, Alman Bridges, died Nov. 15, in an Anaheim, Calif., nursing home.

Her son, Alman Bridges, lived here over 30 years. He was in the Grade A dairy business southwest of Fairfield. He was also active in the oil business. Mr. Bridges moved to Forsyth 14 years ago.

Mrs. Stewart, who never lived in Wayne county, was born at Gainesville, Mo., Feb. 14, 1898. She grew up and was educated in that area. She was first married to Samuel Jackson Bridges at West Plains, Mo.  Mr. Bridges, a carpenter, died in 1954. She later married Claude Stewart in Long Beach, Calif. He preceded her in death in February of 1981.  Funeral services were held Nov. 19 in West Plains. Mo., with burial in Oak Lawn Cemetery there.

She is survived by five children two sons, Alman Bridges, of Forsyth; and Clarence Lloyd Bridges, of Austin, Tex; three daughters, Reba Swanson, of Anaheim Calif.; Margaret Hopkins, of Chesterfield, Mo.; and Jean Reddish, of laguna Hills, Calif.; one sister, Artie June Martin, of Longview, Wash.; two step-sons, two step-daughters; nine grandchildren; and seven step-grandchildren.
