Helen Walton, 87, Former Fairfield Woman, Dies

Mrs. Helen A. Walton, 87, of Oklahoma City, Okla., formerly of Fairfield, died Friday, Apr. 22, 1983, at the Central Oklahoma Christian Home, at Oklahoma City Okla.  Her husband was a well-known Fairfield oil man.

Mrs. Walton moved from Fairfield a number of years ago. She had been a resident of the nursing home for about two years.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Nale's Funeral Home with Rev. B. R. Cummins officiating. Burial will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery.  Visitation at the funeral home will be held after 7 p.m. Monday (tonight).

Mrs. Walton was born in Bradner, Ohio, May 20, 1896, the daughter of James and Attie (Fowler) Huffman.  She was married to Howard E. Walton, who preceded her in death in 1969.  Mr. Walton was an oilman and owned the Walton Drilling Co., of Fairfield. Mrs. Walton was a member of the First United Methodist Church. of Fairfield.

Survivors include one son, Jack E. Walton, of Springfield; sixgrandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two daughters and one son, Richard Walton.  The Richard B. Walton Memorial Armory located on Leininger Road is named after her son, who was killed during WW II.
