A 43-year-old resident of Burnt Prairie, John A. Short, passed away after a long illness (Natural Causes) at 3:20 a.m. Monday at the White County Hospital/Skilled Care Unit in Carmi.  Mr. Short was injured in an oil field accident about 11 years ago and had been hospitalized ever since in a comatose condition.

He was born Aug. 26, 1951 in Burnt Prairie, the son of Alva and Dorothy Juenger Short.

Surviving are his parents, Alva and Dorothy Short of Burnt Prairie; two daughters, Amy Jo McHatton and Jennifer Short of Henderson, Ky.; one sister, Nola Jones of Grayville; and two brothers, Gary Short of Carmi and Jim Short of Burnt Prairie.

Funeral services for John A. Short will be held Wednesday, Nov. 2, at 2:00 p.m. at the Campbell Funeral Chapel in Carmi, with Rev. Ruby McDowell officiating. Burial will be in Centerville Cemetery. Friends may call after 5 p.m. Tuesday at the Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi.
