Bro. Berlin Scarbrough Dies; Longtime Minister, Farmer

Bro. Berlin Scarbrough, 80, of Fairfield, died at Way-Fair Restorium at 3:05 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28, 1994.  He was a longtime minister and farmer until his health failed.  Brother Scarbrough had suffered a series of strokes in the past twenty months and had been a Way-Fair for about a year and a half.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon from the Johnson Funeral Home with Bro. Bill Wagner officiating. Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery. A visitation was held Saturday evening at the Johnson Chapel.

He was born at Sims Feb. 17, 1914, the son of M. O. and Lyndal Marshal Scarbrough.  On Sept. 19, 1934, he was married to Lucille Vaughn.  Brother Scarbrough was of the Pentecostal faith.  He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, one sister and an infant son.

Surviving are his wife; two sons, Garret and Donnie Scarbrough, both of Fairfield; one daughter, Gail Simpson, of Sugar Grove; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, LaVern Scarbrough, of East Alton; and two sisters, Mary Alice Cable, of Mason; and Babe Ward, of Fairfield.
