 Ray S. Jones Found Dead; Heart Attack

Ray S. Jones, 61, Route 2 Fairfield logging contractor, died Monday, Oct. 24, 1994, at a job site in a woods west of Belle Rive.  He died of an apparent heart attack.  Mr. Jones was found by his son at his vehicle on the job site.

Funeral rites were conducted Thursday morning (today) from Nale's Funeral Home, with Dennis West officiating.  Interment was in Bethel Cemetery at Ellery. A visitation was held Wednesday evening at Nale's.

Mr. Jones worked in the oil fields during the 1950s locally and offshore in Louisiana and Also in Saudia Arabia for a short time. He had been a logging contractor for the last 30 years, mostly for Indiana Hardwoods, of Chandler, Ind., a division of Kimball International.

He was born at Golden Gate June 2, 1933, the son of John Miles and Freda Headley Jones.  On Mar. 21, 1953, he was married to Rosalie Harl.   He served in the U.S.Army as a tank driver in Germany during the Korean Conflict from 1953 to 1955.  Preceding him in death were his parents.

Surviving are his wife; one son, Jason Ray Jones, Fairfield; three brothers, Charles E. and John K. Jones, both of Fairfield; and James of Newburgh, Ind.; one sister, Marlene Ginther, of Crown Point, Ind.; a sister-in- law; two brothers-in-law; and a number of nieces and nephews.
