Loyal Vest, 71, Dies Here; With Independent For Years

Loyal Vest, 71, died at his home at 405 East Johnson here at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, 1994.  Mr. Vest died of congestive heart failure and cancer.  He had been in declining health with cancer the past few years.  He was employed with Independent Oil Well Cementing for 38 years, retiring six years ago.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday from the Johnson Funeral Home, with Rev. Rick Forth officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Johnson Chapel.

He was born at Orchardville Apr. 1, 1923, the son of George and Clara Richison Vest.  On May 7, 1945, he was married to Okemah Yocham.  Mr. Vest was a retired Grover Township trustee. He was a World War II veteran.   Preceding him in death were his parents and one brother.

Surviving are his wife; three sons, Bobby Vest of Houston, Tex.; Danny Vest of Normal and Larry Vest, of Fairfield; one daughter, Judy Vest, of Springfield; five grandchildren; four sisters, Neva Huxman, of Richardson, Tex.; Sibyl Longren, of Tulsa, Okla.; Ila Frost of Tulsa, Okla.; and Glenda Kuenstler of Olney; and four brothers, Doc Vest, of Salem; Kenneth Vest and Harold Vest, both of Lawton, Okla.; and Richey Vest, of Marango, Ohio.
