GILBERT SHREVE DIES
AT WAYNE CITY HOME

Gilbert Shreve, 53, a prominent resident of Wayne City, died at his home at about 6:15 last Tuesday evening, after suffering a heart attack at 4:30 P.M. He was born Dec. 29, 1892, the son of Thomas and Martha Shreve, and lived in and near Wayne City all his life.

The past four years and five months he has been employed by the Southern Illinois Lumber Co., making a very efficient employe. He made friends readily and kept them.

He was converted in early manhood and joined the General Baptist Church at Union Star, where he held his membership at the time of his death. He was an Ordained Decon of the Union Star Church. Since moving to Wayne City he has been an active worker in the Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Lydia; five children and three sons-in-law, namely; Walter and Weta Miner, George and Ruth Shadwell, Bill and Doris King, and Clifford Shreve, all of Wayne City and Ruben in the Navy. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Gene Miner, Donnie Shadwell, Eddie and Sandra King; two brothers, John and Arthur Shreve; four sisters, Bertha Talbert, Lillie Braddy, Gertie Bosley and Cora Dalton, besides a great number of nephews, nieces and a host of other relatives and friends. Weep not dear friend as those who have no hope. A good man from us is gone, that will be greatly missed by all.
