Former Fairfield Boy Found Dead At Home

A former Fairfield boy, Gary Gibson, 27, was fatally injured by gun shot at his home in the Joliet area Tuesday night.   After he was found, he was moved to the Joliet hospital where he expired at 7 p.m.

 He was a grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Lane, of Fairfield. His mother is the former Margaret Lane and his stepfather is Vernon Thompson, of Channahon.  His father is Harold Gibson, of California.   Born in Clearwater, Fla., Mar. 13, 1958, Gary attended both grade and high school in Fairfield and was a graduate of Fairfield High.

The remains were returned to Johnson Funeral Home here where visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday.  Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Saturday with Bro. Bill Buchanan officiating, burial in the Bunker cemetery.

He had served in the U. S. Air Force before returning to Joliet where he was working as a truck driver for a newspaper at the time of his passing. His home was in Channahon just out of Joliet.

Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Thompson, of Channahon; his father, Harold Gibson, of California; two brothers, Richard Gibson, of Channahon; Ronald Gibson, of Palo Alto, Calif.; and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Lane, of Fairfield; Russell Gibson, of Florida; Sue Christian, ofBonita Springs, Fia.; and Ed Venable, of Clay City.
