Retired Supt. Of Trunkline Gas Lawrence D. Walker, 64, Dies

Retired Superintendent of Trunkline Gas Company, Lawrence D. Walker, 64, of Hamlin, Ky., a former Johnsonville resident died Sunday evening, Aug. 4, 1985, at his home.    He was the father of Richard Walker, of Cisne, and James Walker, of Geff.

Mr. Walker was alone in his home except for his 15-year-old grandson, Michael Bassinger, of Dahlgren, who summoned help after his grandfather choked unexpectedly, the family said.  Mr. Walker worked for many years with the gas company before his retirement.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m.  Wednesday at Max Churchill Funeral Home in Murray, Ky., with burial there.  Visitation is planned after 6 p.m.Tuesday in Murray.

Mr. Walker was born in Monroe, La., Apr. 17, 1919, the son of Cecil and EulaGatlin Walker.   He was married to the former Priscilla Strom in Boston, Mass., in 1944. She preceded him in death in May of 1982.  Mr. Walker was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.  He was a member of BloodRiver Baptist Church at Hamlin.

Survivors include three sons, Richard Walker, of Cisne; James Walker, of Geff; and Dan Walker, of Jackson, Tenn.; two daughters, Mrs.  Dana (Chris) Bassinger, of Dalhgren; and Mrs. Bruce (Janet) Mac Campbell, of Louisville. Ky.; seven grandchildren and two foster grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother; one sister and a grandchild.
