Johnsonville Cafe Operator, Dot Carpenter, Dies.

Former Johnsonville businesswoman Mrs. Dorothy Carpenter, 56, died at 9:45 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, 1984, at Richland Memorial Hospital at Olney, following a bout with cancer.  Mrs. Carpenter owned and operated Dot's Cafe for eight years until closing her business last December due to ill health.

She was the daughter of Mrs. Inez Brown, Johnsonville correspondent for the Wayne County Press.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p. m. Tuesday at Hosselton Funeral Home, Cisne, with Rev. Jerry St. Clair and Rev. Dean Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Cisne Cemetery.  Visitation for family and friends will be held from 6-9 p.m. Monday (tonight) at the funeral home.

Mrs. Carpenter was born at Johnsonville, April 26, 1928, the daughter of Clarence and Inez (Bratcher) Brown.  She was previously married to Sam Carpenter in Wayne county, April 23, 1948.  One son was born to this union.   Mrs. Carpenter was a member of Pleasant Grove Christian Church near Cisne.

Survivors include her son, Monte Carpenter, of Cisne; her mother, Mrs. Inez Brown, of Johnsonville; a brother, Otis Brown, of Forsyth, and two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father and one brother.
