Howard Knapp, 60, Dies

Howard E. Knapp, 60, well-known Xenia businessman and director on the board of the Xenia First National Bank, died at 9 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 16, 1983, at the Clay County Hospital at Flora.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the R.L.D.S. Church in Flora with High Priest Dale Warren and Elder Charles Burkett officiating. Burial was in the Elmwood Cemetery at Flora.

The Hosselton-Bookhout-Engelmeier Funeral Home, of Flora, handled the funeral arrangements.

Mr. Knapp was born in Xenia Sept. 18, 1922, the son of Andrew Edward and Clea V. (Cantrell) Knapp.  He was married to the former Mary Minton Mar. 7, 1946 in Hayward, Calif.      Mr. Knapp was a partner with his brothers in the Knapp Oil Co, a distributing firm for Union Oil.  He served on the boards of education for the Xenia Grade School, Flora High School and the Flora unit for a total of 19 years.

Mr. Knapp was a member of the Flora R.L.D.S. Church. He served as an elder and as Bishop's Agent.  He was a member of the Brush-creek Reunion Grounds Committee and a Mason.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Knapp, of Xenia; two sons, Jim Knapp, of Harrisburg; and Ed Knapp, of Xenia; two daughters, Pam Dawkins, of Jacksonville, Fla.; and Susan Knapp, at home; his mother, Mrs. Clea Knapp, of Xenia; and four grandchildren.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to either the Brush-Creek Reunion Fund or the Clay County Hospital Equipment Fund.          °
