FAIRFIELD

Charles "Chick" Mossburger, 85, Fairfield, died at 9:45 p.m. Wednesday, July 4, 2007 at Fairfield Memorial Hospital.

He was born Jan. 2, 1922 at Mill Shoals, the son of William C. and Carrie (Hutchcraft) Mossburger, and was married Dec. 26, 1943 at St. Charles, Mo. to Wilma Rose, who survives.

Mr. Mossburger worked for the City of Fairfield
for 34 years, retiring as the Sexton at Maple Hill Cemetery. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of American Legion Post 176, the Disabled American Veterans, Masonic Lodge 106 and First Baptist Church of Fairfield.

Also surviving are three sons and two daughters-in-law, Olin and Dorothy Mossburger of Avon, N.Y., Terry and Joy Mossburger of Webster, Texas, and Marvin Mossburger of Chesterfield township, Michigan; a daughter and son-in-law, Charlene and Bill Carter of Mill Shoals; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Everett Mossburger of Fairfield and Virgil and Betty Mossburger of Harrison, Ohio; five sisters and brothers-in-law, Bernadine and Bob Watson, Mary and Harold Holmes, and Eva and Bill Marvel, all of Fairfield, Mina Ruth and Carl Huey of Evansville, Ind., and Hester and Carson Harl of Mt. Vernon, Ill.; 12 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two infant brothers.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Nale's Funeral Home in Fairfield, Brothers Tim Collins and Otto Windland fficiating, with burial in Maple Hill Cemetery, with full military rites conducted by Anthony Wayne Post 176, The American Legion, and Wayne Post 4535, Veterans of Foreign Wars. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. AMasonic service will begin at 8 p.m.
