Red Collard, 67, Dies

James (Red) Collard, 67, of Kenner, La., a former Wayne City and Fairfield resident, died at 5 p.m. Thursday in the Touro Infirmary in Kenner.   He had been in declining health the past four years.

A resident of Rockford, Ill. for many years, Collard was employed by the Rockford Blacktop Construction Company.  He retired in 1980

Funeral services for Mr. Collard were held Monday (today) at the Tharp-Sontheimer-Tharp Funeral Home in Metaire, La. Burial was in St. Vincent DePaul Cemetery at New Orleans.

Mr. Collard was born at Herrin, Ill., August 8, 1914, the son of Henry and Belle (Chidester) Collard.  He was first married to Naomi Thomason, Sept, 15, 1938. She preceded him in death, Jan. 11, 1980, He married Juanita Cato June 6, 1980.

Mr. Collard was a veteran of World War II, and a member of the Shriners.

Surviving are his widow; three daughters Mrs. John (Jean) Scofield and Mrs.  Robert (Kathleen) Turner, of Phoenix, Ariz., and Mrs. Joan Degarmo, of Kenner, La.; one step-son and one step-daughter, both of Kenner; two sisters, Mrs. Edward (Verne) Bruce of Bluford and Mrs. Robert (Dortha) Oberlies, of Sacramento, Calif.; five grandchildren; and several step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters.
