Mrs. Ray Anderson, 88, Dies

Mrs. Anna Laura Anderson 88, a well-known Cisne resident and the wife of the late Ray Anderson, a Cisne businessman, died at 7:20 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 18, 1982, at the Wabash Christian Retirement Center, at Carmi.  Mrs. Anderson had been a resident of the center for the past four years. Death was due to the infirmities of age, the family said.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Husselton Funeral Home, of Cisne, with Rev. Nolan Eubank officiating. Burial will be in the Cisne Cemetery  Visitation will be held from 6:30-8 p.m. Monday (tonight) at the funeral home.

Mrs. Anderson was born in Elm River township near Enterprise Aug. 5, 1894 the daughter of Robert and Aines (Rogers) Fildes. She was educated in that area and moved to Cisne in 1910, following the death of her parents, to live with the W. G. McCracken family.

She was married to Ray R. Anderson Mar. 9, 1918, at Cisne and he preceded her in death Jan. 12, 1979.  Mr. Anderson was the founder and owner of the Anderson-Mix Construction Co., of Cisne. The business is now owned by the couple's grandson, Jerry Mix under the name of Jerry's Sales and Service.

Mrs. Anderson was a homemaker and housewife during her marriage. She was noted for the flower gardens she raised for a number of years, until ill  health prevented her from doing so.

She was the oldest member of the Cisne United Methodist Church and was a choir member in her early life. Mrs.  Anderson taught the ladies' Sunday School class for a number of years. She was a past president of the United Methodist Women of the church.
 
Mrs. Anderson was a former member of the Cisne Home Extension.

Survivors include one son Robert W. Anderson, of San Diego, Calif.; five  daughters, Mrs. Charlie (Rosamond) Mix, of Cisne, Mrs. Homer (Mary Jane) Lewis, of Norman, Okla.; Mrs. Dwight (Donna Jean) Anneaux, of Charleston, S. Car.; Mrs. Jo Ann Maloy, of Carmi; and Mrs. Larry (Janis) St. Clair of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, one sister, and two brothers.
