VERNA E. PEER

nee LaDow, was born at Parkersburg, Ill.,July 20, 1877. Died at her home, near Claremont, Ill., February 21, 1901, aged 24 years, 7 months and 1 day. She was married to W. A. Peer, April 20, 1900. To them were given a sweet girl babe, which is three weeks old. In the year 1894 she joined the Christian Church in Olney, was baptized and had since lived a pure christian life. She was an exceptionally kind and devoted daughter and sister and those who knew her best loved her most. After her father's death she was her mother's adviser, confidant and sympathizer, and will be badly missed by the family.

During her last sickness all that loving hearts and willing hands could do could not stand off the monster death. She was taken with a hard chill which terminated in pneumonia, which was of short duration --- six days. She bore her affliction very patiently and while suffering untold agonies in her last moments, looked up and smiling said, "All will be well tomorrow." Oh 'tis hard to give up one so good and promising, but we must yield to the inevitable and yielding say, "not my will but thine be done."

The funeral was held at Mount Pleasant church and was conducted by Rev. H. O. Hiser, of the M. E. church. All that was mortal of our darling Verna was then laid to rest in Mount Pleasant cemetery to await the coming of Christ to claim his own.
