Eula Daubs, 94, Dies

Mrs. Eula Daubs, 94, a Mt. Erie native and former school teacher died at 4:40 p.m. Thursday at Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney.      She had been a patient for 11 days and had been a resident of Burgin Two Nursing Home in Olney for one month. She had previously lived with her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. William Daubs, of Mt. Erie. Mrs. Daubs fell in 1980 suffering
a broken hip and shoulder.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Summers Funeral Home in Olney with Bro. L. B. Howard officiating. Burial was in McKendree Cemetery near Mt. Erie.

Mrs. Daubs was born Nov. 26, 1887, the daughter of John and Emma (Best) Andrews.

She was the fifth child of a family of ten and attended school in the Mt. Erie area.

After receiving her teaching degree in Algebra, English, Botany and Zoology, she began teaching school at the No. 4 school with 65 children.

She taught school in Wayne county for 15 years, which included students at No. 7 Goldengate, Oakwood, Mt. Erie, Vandeveer and Walker schools.      Mrs. Daubs married William F. Daubs at the home of her parents Aug. 25, 1912.  He preceded her in death July 15, 1964.      The Daubs lived on a farm and both taught school in addition to farm work. Mr. Daubs is still remembered in the Mt. Erie area for being able to teach students the arithmetic tables. He was also a Christian church minister.      Mrs. Daubs was a member of the Mt. Erie Christian church  since 1913.  She was the oldest church member to attend the 1977 church dedication.
 
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, William and Rosa Lee Daubs, of Mt. Erie; one foster grandson, Robert A. Daubs; and several nieces an nephews.
