Death of Joshua Graham

The PRESS is this week called upon to chronicle the death of one Wayne's oldest and best known citizens. Joshua Graham died at his home in Elm River township Thursday of last week, aged about 65 years. The funeral took place at Brown church on Friday and was attended by a large congregation, Rev. Huntsberry preaching the sermon. Deceased leaves as immediate relatives a wife and two sons and one daughter.

Mr. Graham when a young man enlisted in Co. H. 98th Regiment in which he served nearly three years. His comrades, some of whom still live in this county, give him unstinted praise for his bravery and for his many kindly acts during that memorable struggle. His regiment was a part of the famous Wilder brigade.

As a citizen of our county deceased was highly respected. He was a member of James Mayes Post at Mt. Erie, and was also a member of the Masonic fraternity.

For some time past Mr. Graham had been in poor health. His ailment was pronounced cancer or catarrh of the stomach by some, and by others it is claimed that his death was caused by consumption. In his death Wayne county has lost one of her best citizens, and his family a loving and devoted husband and father.
