Wayne County Native Dies

Clyde C. Blackford, 81, of rural Olney, a native of Wayne County, died  recently at the Olney Hospital.    Services were conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Summers Funeral Home with burial in the Haven Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Blackford was born in Wayne County, the son of John and Ellen (Richards) Blackford. He was married to Ruth Monts on Aug. 17, 1921.

For more than 30 years, he was an employee of the International Shoe Co.

Mr. Blackford was an active member of the First Christian Church Disciples  of Christ and was a Deacon at the time of his death. He was a veteran of World War I.

Surviving are his widow, Ruth; and five sons, Don, Larry, Roy, James,  and Wayne; two daughters, Mrs. Alberta  Mowrer and Mrs. Mary Wells,  22 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents, an infant son, three grandchildren; two brothers, Ernest and Chester, two sisters, Mrs. Ethel Runyon and Mrs. Myrtle Randall.
