Nancy Jane Crews was born in Posey County, Indiana February 4, 1826.  She was the daughter of James Vandaveer, one of the pioneers of Wayne County, IL having moved to the vicinity of Mt. Erie in 1815, when the subject of this obit was eleven years old.  She married Andrew Crews April 4, 1846.  Brother Crews passed on before her to the better land several years ago.  She became a member of the ME church in 1849, and lived a constant christian life from that time until called to her reward in heaven.  Sister Crews moved to Culberston, NE five years ago, where she was stricken with partial paralysis.  She soon after returned to her daughter's in Illinois and then to her old home in Mt. Erie, where she died, respected by all who knew her...".
