DIED in Fairfield, Thursday  Sent. 13, 1888; age 57 yrs. 10 ms. 14 ds.  Brother Murphy  was born in Mead Co., Oct 26, 1830.   He was brought by his parents to Wayne County when 1 year old — resided here until death.

On the 27 March 1851 he married Derthula  Ann Boyce.  They buried 8 children, while 3 survive their father.

In March of 1883 he professed faith in Christ and.united with the Missionary Baptist Church of Fairfield.
