ABSTRACTS FROM THE MINUTES OF THE
PLEASANT GROVE MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH,
BARNHILL TOWNSHIP, WAYNE CO., IL

June 15th 1850...and Brother John Atteberry talked to the Church about a report, in circulation, about him and his wife; and the Church say she is satisfied with Brother Atterberry, 3nd)  the Church say she take up a charge against Sister Barbary tteberry, for faltsly accuseing hir husband of thing that he is inocent of; and she says she send Brethren Isaiah Walker, F  Potter; and JW Baird to see Sister Atterberry...

July 20th 1850...the referrences of the meeting house took up and the committy report the sum of one hundred ten dollars; and fifty cents,  subscribed for building the meeting house and the committy instructed to go on with it...the refference to Sister Barbary Atteberry took and she called on to answer to the charge and Sister Atteberry, failing to give satisfaction was excluded from the watch care of this church, and is no more of us
(NOTE:  This was my GGGGrandmother accusing her husband John Atterberry of  infidelity. Turns out she was right.)

August the 17 day 1850..sell the old meeting house for what it will fetch; then concluded in peace..Church met 14 Sept 1850; Oct 19 1850; Nov 16 1850;  Dec 14 1850; Jan 18 1851; Grn 15 1851. All these meeting had no new business.

Sun. AM 10:00 Met at the river side where prayse was wanted to be made as of  old and after by Eld. J.P. Ellis of Ky. gave privlig for membership...Eld. C.J. Kelley went down into the water and baptized 24 willing converts in the prensents of about two thousand spectators, a more solomn and interesting scene had never been witnessed in that part of the state since its settlement...Martin V. Hunsinger..Rosanna Carter..Elisa J. Vaught were received candidates for baptism.

Thursday Church met...called S.C. Pendleton to the chair as Moderator...
At a meeting held 26 Oct 1854. The meeting continued a 11 days. During this meeting the community was gratly revived and many sought and found the Savior in the pardon of their sins and many more were left who were still seeking  during the time received.

By ecperience:  William King, Areal Indicut, Hester M. Funkhouser, Aaron  Atteberry, J.S. King, John Whitzil, Nancy King, William Archibald, Mariah  Atteberry. These were baptized at the close of the meeting by Elder C.J.  Kelly.

Nov. 1854 elected Eld. C.J. Kelly, pastor; S.C. Pendleton, Moderator

Dec. 1854  agreed that next meeting be held at Hunsinger school house. Received for baptism: Susan Atteberry, Ellen N. Funkhouser By letter:  Lucinda Gray. On the same night received by experience and for baptism Br. Curtis Funkhouser. at a meeting a few days previous received by baptism by experience Br. Charles Atteberry, Br. Lewis Hunsinger and Sister Sophronia Hunsinger. They were all baptized on Sabbath following by the pastor in the Skillet Fork.

Jan. 1855...Appointed Br. Ezekiel Hunsinger..to see Br. Simpson and cite him to attend our next meeting...

Jany 13 1855...business called for and Br. Potter gave satisfaction to the Church; and is fully restored to fellowship with us...Joh Hunsinger Modr...

Feby 10, 1855...business was called for, when as letter was received and read from Barbary Atteberry, wishing to be restored to fellowship in this Church; and the Church say Sister Barbary Atteberry is restored to fellowship with  us; and at hir request we grant hir a letter of dismision from this Church..John Hunsinger modr.

March 10th 1855..when Br. Potter rose and let the Church know that a reconcilation, had taken place between him and Br. Blissit; then closed.

April 8th 1855..Received Nancy Renfro by experience.

May 12 1855..a door was opened for the reception of members; and received Daniel Baird, Sarah Atteberry; Thomas Ree, and Martha Ann Reed all by experience...

June 7 1855...Sarah Jane Blessit was received into the Church by experience.
(NOTE: This would have been Solomon's second wife)

July 1855...we do not wish to reunite with the little Wabash association on the account of the great distance that some of the churches would have to go. J Hunsinger mdr
